"The Butterfly Effect" by Luly Yang
They say that the flutter of a butterfly’s wings can stir a hurricane halfway across the world. So too, our actions, how we treat others, and the products we create cause a rippling effect in our world and the lives around us. The Monarch Butterfly Gown represents this creative evolution designed by Pacific Northwest designer Luly Yang.
She ventured into the fashion industry in as a graphic designer with her iconic Monarch dress engineered from digitally printed sheets of paper for a fundraising competition. In creating this paper dress, she realized her newly inspired dream of creating the dress in fabric, launching her career as a fashion designer with a purpose. The Monarch butterfly has since become a sigil for Yang and is also symbolic of the impact she wants to have on the world around her.
Operating as a designer who creates custom commissioned couture, from her runway collections to her clients, gives her the opportunity to celebrate individuality, something that mass production cannot do. And because most of her designs are ultimately commissioned and custom-designed, Yang can produce continually with little to no waste. This s

Luly's mission flows through a dynamic portfolio of operations, including couture bridal and evening wear, specialty lines of luxe ready-to-wear separates, and custom corporate uniforms.
Heritage and Influence
Raised in a family of artists, architects, and engineers, Luly was exposed at an early age to the fundamentals of design from numerous points of view. Her early years as an architectural graphic designer and fitness instructor have given her a unique perspective on intentional design, the complexity of the human form, and the importance of movement.

Luly Yang's name is synonymous with her highly conceptual couture creations and highly sought after fashion designs.
Her self-named store on Fourth Avenue in downtown Seattle, which sells her evening and bridal designs, opened in Since then, Yang's designs have earned her a successful business and recognition. She has been named Best Couture Dress Designer by Seattle Bride Magazine for twelve consecutive years and was awarded Nellie Cashman's Women Business Owner of the Year award.
Although Seattle is not known as a fashion mecca, Yang decided to start her fashion career in the city where she grew up and lives with her family.
"I saw a need and passion for fashion business here, and I believe we have so many women with fabulous taste and their own personal style,"she told China Daily.
