〔體育中心／綜合報導〕36歲的太空人外野手布蘭特利（Michael Brantley）今天宣布退休，結束15年大聯盟生涯。
布蘭特利年選秀獲得釀酒人青睞，年在塞揚強投沙巴西亞（CC Sabathia ）交易中被送往克里夫蘭，隔年迎來大聯盟初登場，擁有精湛打擊技巧、不易吞K的他，在年繳出打擊率的成績，首度入選明星賽、拿下銀棒獎，隔年45支二壘安打在聯盟獨占鰲頭，全年三振率%也是聯盟最低。

年冬天成為自由球員後，布蘭特利轉戰太空人，這五年他在健康狀態下是明星等級的打者，、年都繳出單季打擊率的表現，只是好漢最怕病來磨，他在年8月動了生涯第4次肩膀手術，遲至去年8月才重返賽場。
雖然因傷錯過球隊年的奪冠之路，不過太空人前年高捧金盃之際，全隊也不忘讓布蘭特利站到舞台中央，親手感受獎盃的重量，「我到現在想起來還是會起雞皮疙瘩，那是我永生難忘的一刻。」布蘭特利今在接受官網訪問時回憶道。
對於高掛球鞋的決定，布蘭特利表示希望能多花一點時間陪家人，他也確定將轉任「教練」，指導兒子的少棒隊，育有4名子女的布蘭特利，目前最小的兩個兒子8歲的麥可三世（Michael III）、6歲的麥克斯威爾（Maxwell）都是隊上的成員。
