Alors que les yéyés ont envahi les radios au début des années 60, Johnny Hallyday, lui, se lance dans le rock'n'roll. Inspiré de ses idoles américaines, et notamment Elvis Presley, il se produit sur scène dans l'antre du rock français, le Golf Drouot. Il se fait repérer en réinterprétant un titre de Dalida version rock. Sa carrière est lancée dans toute la France, le jeune homme a à peine 18 ans et il devient rapidement l'idole d'une génération. Au milieu des années 60, il lance de nouveaux mouvements musicaux importés des Etats-Unis, le twist et le madison.
Les décennies 70 et 80 ne font qu'asseoir la popularité et le succès de Johnny cours de sa longue carrière, le chanteur a essayé tous les styles musicaux, du rock à la variété, en passant par la soul. Il a également fait quelques incursions au cinéma.

ette année-là, Johnny Hallyday enregistre un nouvel album baptisé Hollywood qui sortira en janvier Johnny accompagne comme à son habitude cette sortie avec une nouvelle tournée française.
