Ramanlal Desai was a Gujarati writer who lived during the period, 12 May - 20 September He was awarded Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak in Desai is well recognized as a Gujarati novelist, who published 27 novels in total. Bharelo Agni and Gramalakshmi are considered to be his magnum opus. Apsara, an essay divided in five volumes, based on the life of prostitutes was widely well-appreciated. Desai served as the president of Pragatishil Sahitya Mandal and also of the Baroda Sahitya Sabha in His son, Akshay Desai, was a renowned Indian sociologist.
Ramanlal Desai was born on 12 May in Sinor, Vadodara, Gujarat. His village is situated on the banks of Narmada river. Vasantlal and Manibai were his parents. Kalol of Panchmahal district is his ancestral place. Both his parents were religious, and his father believed in Agnosticism. His father also ran a Gujarati magazine. They owned a printing press which helped Ramanlal Desai to read books. There was one book shop nearby, from where Ramanlal used to read. He moved to Vadodara in to continue his studies. RamanlalVasantlal Desai is a prominent Gujarati litterateur. He was born in in the small village of Sinor in the Vadodara district. Desai had a significant literary career and is said to have produced a large corpus of Gujarati novels that dealt with a wide range of themes, lauded across Gujarat. Bharelo Agni is one of his most famous works. Some of Desai's other significant novels include Sirisha (), Kokila (), Divyachakshu (), and Gramalakshmi, which captured the spirit of India's freedom struggle and was a reflection of Gandhian ideologies, like the Swadeshi Movement and non-violent resistance. In addition, Desai also wrote several novels with historical and mythological themes, such as Bharelo Agni, Kalbhoj, Shaurya Tarpan, andBalajogan. Among these historical books, Bharelo Agni is hailed as Desai's Magnum Opus. First published in , it primarily discusses the First War of Independence against the British East India Company. Vasantlal Desai, born on 12 May in Sinor in the Vadodara district of Gujarat, was an iconic figure who contributed immensely to Gujarati literature. His novel Divyachakshu, which means Divine Sight, was a work of incredible beauty, and it catapulted the author to fame. એમણે લેખનપ્રવૃત્તિનો પ્રારંભ ૧૯૧૫માં સુરતમાં ભરાયેલી સાહિત્યપરિષદ વખતે ભજવવા માટે લખેલા ‘સંયુક્તા’ નાટકથી કર્યો, જે પછી પુસ્તકરૂપે ૧૯૨૩માં પ્રગટ થયું. પછી વડોદરામાં સાહિત્ય પરિષદ ભરાઈ ત્યારે સયાજીરાવે આપેલા દાનની યોજના અન્વયે એમણે ‘મહારાણા પ્રતાપ’ (૧૯૧૯) અને ‘નાના ફડનવીસ’ (૧૯૨૨) એ ચરિત્રો, ‘પાવાગઢ’ (૧૯૨૦) પ્રવાસગ્રંથ અને ‘સંસ્કૃતિની ઉત્પત્તિ’ (૧૯૨૮) અનુવાદગ્રંથ પ્રસિદ્ધ કર્યાં. પરંતુ એમને લેખક તરીકે ખ્યાતિ તો અપાવી, ૧૯૨૪-૨૫ દરમિયાન ‘નવગુજરાત’ સામયિક માટે એમણે લખેલી અને પછીથી ૧૯૩૮માં પ્રગટ થયેલી
