Yasheng Huang is a Professor and holds the Epoch Foundation Professorship of Global Economics and Management at MIT Sloan School of Management. Yasheng Huang is professor of political economy and international management and holds International Program Professorship in Chinese Economy and Business at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a special-term professorship at School of Management, Fudan University and an honorary professorship at Hunan University. His previous appointments include faculty positions at the University of Michigan and at Harvard University.

Yasheng Huang's research focuses on international business, political economy and institutional issues. His recently published book, Selling China (Cambridge University Press, ) examines the institutional drivers of foreign direct investment (FDI) in China. This book has been profiled in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Economist, Businessworld, Le Monde, Economic Times, and Liangwang (Outlook) in China. Unlike many other studies of FDI in China, this book shows that some of the inefficiencies of China's financial and legal institutions have served to drive up FDI inflows. The principal effect of these inefficiencies is a lowering of the average level of competitiveness of domestic firms, which creates a number of propitious conditions for foreign firms. Huang is extending this way of looking at FDI, examining the competitiveness of domestic firms to other countries by analyzing
