Naseem Banu, also known as the beauty queen of Indian cinema, also as the ‘first ever female superstar’. Words cannot describe the sheer talents and beauty this historical figure held in her years. Naseem was born as Rosha Ara Begum in Delhi, she was born into a community of very skilled and artistic family. Her mother, Shamshad Begum was also known as Chhamian Bai was a very prominent singer of her generation. Naseem’s father was a man born in a royal bloodline, he was the descendant of Waheed Khan Gharana and he went by the name of Nawab Abdul Waheed Khan. Naseem Banu (4 July &#;18 June ) was an Indian film actress. She was referred to as Naseem and known as "Beauty Queen" and the "first female superstar" of Indian Cinema.[1] Starting her acting career in the mids she continued to act till mids. Her first film was Khoon Ka Khoon (Hamlet) () with Sohrab Modi under whose Minerva Movietone banner she acted for several years. Her high-point came with Modi's Pukar () in which she played the role of Empress Nur Jahan. According to composer Naushad she got the sobriquet Pari-Chehra (fairy face) Naseem through the publicity advertisements of her films.[2] She was the mother of actress Saira Banu and mother-in-law to the actor Dilip Kumar.[3]
