Sumeet Nagdev
Sumeet Nagdev is the artistic director and founder of Sumeet Nagdev Dance Arts, India’s leading contemporary dance organization. He appeared in the dance reality show Dance Plus season one as a judge and choreographer. As a child, Sumeet learned gymnastics and Mallakhamba, a traditional Indian sport, at Shivaji Park. Slowly, he trained in folk dance in senior school and proceeded to learn Jazz, Ballet, and Modern with Oscar Unger, Veronica Balsara, and Mahesh Mahbubani, respectively.
After graduating in management studies in , Sumeet received a scholarship with the Martha Graham Dance Company for concentrated training in the Graham method. In , he found Sumeet Nagdev Dance Arts (SNDA), a company focused on stage productions, dance films, and commercial and cinematic projects. Out of passion for art, he somehow managed both his company and personal life. Sumeet parallelly learned dance therapy under Tripura Kashyap and Kathak under Pandita Uma Dogra. In , he got shortlisted as an international choreographer and got an opportunity to perform and choreograph at the American Dance Festival.

"It's all very tiring," says dancer choreographer Sumeet Nagdev, ahead of Tridha -described as `a triple bill evening of contempo rary dance'. The recital, which will be held on Friday, will celebrate 10 years of Nagdev's dance academy, SNDA. “To be honest, being a dancer is one thing, and running a company is a whole different ball game altogether," he shares, crediting his then-girlfriend and now wife as the driving force behind the creation of the academy. “She has the brains, I have the artistic vision -both of which are required. My academy and my love life are were dating when we started, and we ran into a lot of teething problems initially -if there were issues with housekeeping, we would take turns to clean the studio or I would conduct eight to 10 classes a day before heading for my own rehearsals," shares Nagdev about the early days at the studio.
